Diet? What diet?

So for like 2-3 weeks the "diet" has pretty much been non-existent. I blame the holidays. I've been eating so many sweets lately and just not caring. I am surprised I didn't pack on some pounds. I actually lost a lb. Ok...
So we're going to do better now. I still go back and forth with if I'm going to log what I eat every day. Some days I think it helps me, and it's good to do it, other days I think I can just write it down on a piece of paper or keep track in my head and save myself some time. So we'll see I don't know if I will bore anyone w/ what we eat everyday anymore... unless I think it will help me to eat better then I'll start doing it again every day.
So something kind of cool happend regarding this whole weight loss thing. A couple weeks ago I asked Billy if he could get out ALL my old clothes, b/c so far I had only found a couple pair of pants but I knew my whole old wardrobe was in the attic. So he got it out, and the cool thing is everything fit! I was so excited to see my old clothes again. And I guess I'm weird b/c when I think back to some memories that stand out to me a lot of times I can picture what I was wearing so as I was going through the box I was telling Billy, "Oh, remember this? I used to wear this all the time when we were dating." And "remember this shirt? I wore this the night you proposed"... or the day I met him at the airport when he came home from his mission, etc. So it was so fun reliving those memories, and way cool that I could fit into all that stuff again- although it doesn't fit me quite the same anymore- but still it fits! ... so I have now doubled my wardrobe. What more could a girl want? (right?)

Weigh in day! (new pictures!)






Weight watchers works! I've lost 45 lbs; I'm at my goal weight! Yay! ... but I set a high goal weight. I figured I wanted to get at least to this weight, and then when I got here I'd kind of just be happy with whatever weight I am at after that. That's why I've created a new Tracker. My first tracker shows that I lost 45 lbs and reached my goal, the 2nd one is just to keep track of how much weight I continue to loose after that. I will be fine anywhere within that 20 lbs range. 20lbs being the max that I would want to loose- that's like my dream- but I really am happy to be anywhere within that range. Now that I've had 3 kids, I knew it would be hard to judge exactly what weight I thought I could get to. So I'm not going to stress about it, I'm just going to continue to try to eat healthy and start exercising reguarly. I'm back in my old clothes again, and I'm feeling good. I'm so excited to feel healthier and more like me again!!

Billy also looks great! That's an understatement. He's at 182 now, and he'd still like to loose more, but I've always thought he looks good. Sometimes I look at him now and I feel like we're newlyweds again b/c he's starting to look just the same as he did back then. His face is thinning, and I think that makes us both look a little younger. It's exciting.

One more thing, it's such a great compliment to me that some people have asked what we are doing, and then told me that we motivated them to loose weight! Wow! That makes me feel so good to be the one in that position.
So I thought, if it helps, and if anyone would like some tips I could tell you a couple things we have done in the last couple months.
First of all we are following the weight watchers guideline. To find out how many points you can have per day, go to http://www.peertrainer.com/LoungeCommunityThread.aspx?ForumID=1&ThreadID=47011. Here is a list of foods and how many points everything is, http://www.quiddity.cc/rachel/diet/wwfoods.htm#top I have this along with a bunch of good weight watcher receipes in a notebook. If you want to find out how many points restraunt foods are I found a couple good sites: http://www.healthdiscovery.net/restaurants/index.html, and http://www.dwlz.com/restaurants.html (scroll down to see restaurants).
I have been told that the difference between mantaining and loosing weight is 3 points, so if you go a couple points over your point allotment everyday you might not loose, that's why it's important to right down every little thing you eat. One tip that I would really recommend is get a marker and everytime you go to eat something, check out the nutrition facts and figure out how many points is in a serving and then right a #2 or however many points it is on the box or bag. Then you know if you can have half a serving or 2 servings or whatever. Then like I said right down everything you eat so you can keep track.
We have numbers next to every nutrition label in our house, and it is so helpful b/c you only have to figure it out once and then you know for the next time. I have an actual weight watchers calculater but there is also one online. It's http://www.webmilhouse.com/pointcalc.php. Hopefully it's ok w/ the weight watchers people to give out all these websites- anyone could find them if you know how to use a search engine. So I hope that's helpful. That's about all you need to know to do weight watchers.
Oh, and I'm learning that fat free/ low fat stuff actually tastes good! I think it tastes just the same as the high fat stuff. We now get low fat italian dressing (only a point, 0 points for fat free), low fat mayo (tastes great), fat free sandwhich meat (they have some in the great value brand and it tastes just as good as the other stuff), anyway the list could go on, but you get the idea.

Billy wanted to go out to dinner as a family and since I loved Cafe Rio last time we went I suggested that. So much higher than I originally thought! So Billy was OK on his points but I went way over. At least we both tried it now, it'll be a special occasion when we go back there again. My birthday! (Way splurge day)
Billy made me a nice big breakfast. We had basically egg sandwhiches- biscuits, eggs, cheese and sausage.
For lunch my friends invited us to Peter Piper Pizza. It was so sweet of them, they all gave me cards and I got some gifts and a cake. Sooo sweet. The kids loved it.
So I had 1 piece of pizza and a small piece of cake.
Dinner- someone had given us $10 so what did we do w/ it? Spend it as soon as possible of course. And I didn't want to make dinner on my birthday, so we got Filiburtos.
Oh what a fatty day! I felt it too.
Oh I almost forgot, I hate to admit it but there's more. Well, Cold Stone has free ice cream on your birthday. So we had to get some! I got vanilla w/ brownie and carmael mix ins. It was good.
I was full pretty much the whole day. You would think w/ eating like that I would've gained like 5 lbs, but amazingly enough I still lost 1/2 lb! haha. It would've been more if I wouldn't have had this day I'm sure. But that's ok, how often does your bday come around?

It was so good though! They put beans and rice and chips in it and top it w/ a ranch tamatillo sauce. So good!

3 days

So I'm finally getting around to posting for the last 3 days. Uggh, we did not have good eating days the last couple of days. We ordered Barros Pizza and Wings. It was really good, but really fatty. I'm starting to not like how I feel after I eat that type of stuff. I enjoyed it while I was eating it but afterward I just didn't feel as good as I do when I eat healthy. So I'm glad I'm more conscious of it now, and we're not just eating junk left and right w/out feeling bad about it. So today was better.

*We try to be as accurate as possible w/ points. Some things we calculate and we know exactly how many points it is, but other things we just guess, and I try to always over estimate if I'm guessing at something. Or if something is half a point I just round up. We guessed that our Pizza was like 10 points a slice, so we might've overestimated but it's probably close.

We're back in the game

Well, it's been almost two weeks since we last posted. Things were going so good too. I was so happy to see results, I really felt good about the diet (it's easy b/c it's not like we're making major changes, we're just more careful), and I thought this blog was really helping too. BUT it's time consuming to log on and post so often, plus I was starting to wonder if anyone was really reading this anyway. So I thought we could live without the blog.
Not such a great idea. It seems like once I slacked on the blog we slacked a little on the diet. We didn't do the greatest the last couple weeks. So I'm remotivated again, and I'm going to keep on recording what we eat b/c I've learned that it really does help. It seems to make a big difference with me when I know I'm going to post it.

Good News & Bad News

Ok, so let's start w/ the good news. All of my fat pants that used to fit are now litterally falling off they're so big. It's pretty cool, but it was also frustrating this past week that my pants were constantly sagging. So I went Goodwill shopping (1/2 Saturday!) I am SOOOo excited b/c I am in a new size! Ok, still not quite ready to reveal my weight, but I think I can say my pant size now. K, my box of skinny close has anywhere from a sz 9-13 (that's juniors, so for those of you who don't know juniors are odds, womens are even so it would be 8-12 womens) and my postpartum jeans (which ended up becoming my "am I ever going to get out of this size?" jeans after awhile) are sz 16. I am now comfortably in a sz 14! I even bought a sz 13! YAY! It made me so happy, and more motivated to do better... which leads me to the bad news.
Oh, we had a bad couples days for the diet. The diet was just thrown out the window yesterday and today. I am not even going to try to write down what we ate b/c 1) We weren't keeping track and 2) I don't want to. I'm a little embarrassed. And I know, that's what this whole blog is for- so that if I eat good I'm proud to post it, if it's not so good I won't want to post it but I'll have to anyway. Let's just say we went all out this weekend. We had halloween candy, and french fries, and homemade pumpkin pie. Billy decided to make a real pumpkin pie from scratch. It was good! But I have to say I am not handling junk food as well now that we've been staying away from it. So that's a good thing- maybe that'll be a good motivator for me when I'm craving something I shouldn't have- I'll just have to remember that crap makes me feel like crap. haha.

I've updated my tracker. I'm so excited. I'm only 10 lbs away from my goal now! I've set a high goal though, that's the highest weight I'd be happy at. After I get to that goal, I'm just going to keep trying to eat healthy and exercise, and be happy when I feel like I'm at a healthy weight. I'm just excited that I'm getting so close.
Billy is now at 186. He's doing really good, too. I'm going to miss his stomache- it's all gone now!

Bad Day for the diet

Started out ok, but got worse and worse. Ended up being a splurge day. We actually went on a date! How often does that happen? So we kinda HAD to splurge, right? haha.

We're loosing!

I'm so jealous of Billy- he looses weight a whole lot faster and easier than I do it seems. He just got under 190! So that's a big deal for him. And me, I'm still not ready to say my actual weight yet, but I will tell you I haven't been this weight since before I had Will! Yay! It's so weird- in the first yr we were married we gained like 20-30 lbs, and I was starting to feel fat & uncomfortable w/ myself, and I was like OK, I really need to loose weight (that's when we tried Atkins) then I got pregnant and instead of loosing I just kept gaining. So it's weird now that I am actually happy to be at that weight that I was at before I had Will. That's not to say I don't want to keep on going. Still got a ways to go- but I'm happy that I'm making progress. I'm feeling good!

So I'm not exactly sure what Billy ate the last two days, but I'm sure it was similar to my meals, and I thought instead of waiting for him to let me know, I'd just update this with my meals from the last two days.

BTW- we discovered that we get 32 flex points a week which is one thing we remember really liking about WW. So the days I went over earlier in the week, is not so bad considering the flex points, and we figured we still could splurge a little bit today and be OK. Although, I'm wondering if to loose weight you really shouldn't use any flex points... I'm not sure. But I think overall we're not doing too bad.... Billy wanted to go all out and get ice cream tonight, but one thing that stopped me from even wanting it was the fact that I knew we were going to post exactly what we eat and I didn't want anything that bad on my list. This really was a good idea of his. It is really helping me. All day I think- I want to be able to write that I exercised and/or that I ate good today. And I feel better (physically and mentally) once I actually do exercise and eat right.

*Ok, I just found out today that Billy had the right # for how many points he can have every day, but mine was off- which I was wondering about- it seemed really high. Anyway I should actually be staying between 20-25. So I did good today! Yay! Today is the first day that I've posted and felt good about it. It feels so good to know that we are concentrating so much on what we eat now, and really making an effort. That salad we had for lunch was delicous! I just loved it. I don't usually eat salad as much as I should, but I'm going to be doing better. Today, I just felt so good physically and I felt good about myself that we are starting to be healthier. ... So from now on I'll be staying between 20-25 points.

The Plan

Teanne and I have been talking about loosing weight for a long stinkin' time. We found out that despite the calories we burn from our moving lips, we are still FAT! It's finally time to do something drastic, and drastic times call for drastic measures. So we are inviting everyone to check in and see our day to day progress.

So here is the plan: we will be using the weight watchers point system to control our portions. Billy is allowed 32 points on non-workout days and 38 points on workout days. Teanne is allowed 28 Points on non-workout days and 34 points on workout days.

So, Everyday we will be posting our daily food journal (with total points) and what we did for exercise. We also have weight loss tickers at the top of this blog, to keep track of our weight loss. So eveyone please leave your comments and keep us motivated!
